JEWELLERY CARE
To keep your jewellery well, it's important to care and store all items correctly. Below, we have put together some information to help you keep your jewellery in great condition.
Freyr's Forge will not be held responsible for wear and tear or damage caused through lack of care.
Our jewellery is made from top quality materials that are not mass produced so please remember that lot's of love and care has gone into creating these amazing pieces.
Our Jewellery is made of various materials. We have some that is 316L stainless steel. It is waterproof, hypoallergenic and will not fade for a good few years.
This materials is immensely strong and will last if looked after. It can be worn during bathing and exercising without having to remove it.
Many of our items are 925 Silver, this jewellery can oxidise over time if not looked after. It is a natural reaction known as tarnishing. To slow down the process, remove your silver jewellery before showering and intense workouts as moisture and sweat accelerate oxidation (silver reacts to moisture and chemicals in the air such as sulphur, as it does to chemicals and moisture on our skin from lotions and perfumes). Chemicals like chlorine and salt can damage silver so avoid wearing while swimming. Always remove necklaces before sleeping and avoid storing in humid environments such as the bathroom.
Jewellery remains in peak condition when it is regularly worn or stored in a dry, air-tight box or bag. To clean any tarnishing, simply polish with a soft cloth to regain it's finish. Regularly using of a microfibre cloth removes light tarnish and inhibits re-tarnishing, prolonging the original shine.
To keep matte finishes clean, wash gently with warm, soapy water. Make sure it is fully dry before returning to its box or airtight bag for storage. Avoid over using a polishing cloth as it may remove the matte finish (if needed, just rub lightly or use a microfibre cloth). Matt/matte finishes are a surface treatment so they will naturally fade with wear (becoming more shiny over time).
We really advise that you store your jewellery in a box or a bag Add in any silica gel packs you have (often found in shoe boxes and vitamin jars) known as desiccants, they absorb moisture so will help prevent and slow and rust or discoloration.
We hand make and produce items using ethically sourced and sustainable materials. We avoid using any harsh chemicals in jewellery making processes.
